REFLECT: The Week I Stopped Letting Other People’s Opinions Run My Life
“You wouldn’t worry so much about what others think of you if you realized how seldom they do.” — Eleanor Roosevelt
Let’s get one thing straight — I used to care deeply about what other people thought of me, like really deeply, I was such a people pleaser.
Like, obsessive-level caring.
Would they still like me if I didn’t drink?
Would they think I was boring?
Would they talk about me behind my back?
Would they roll their eyes if I ordered soda water instead of wine?
The truth?
Maybe.
But what I realised is this — people’s opinions are none of my business, especially if they aren’t paying my bills, living my life, or feeling the 3am anxiety I used to wake up with. I also realised that more often than not, they were also spending much of their time doing the same, consumed with worry about what other people thought of them.

I spent years performing for people who didn’t even see me.
And when I finally chose myself?
A few people left.
A few got uncomfortable.
And a few leaned in closer, because they were craving permission to do the same and saw the positive changes I’d made.
You don’t owe anyone the watered-down version of you.
Not the party girl version.
Not the people-pleaser version.
Not the one who agrees just to keep the peace.
You owe it to yourself to get loud, get honest, and take up space — sober, sparkly, and so damn self-assured.
Let them whisper, let them talk, let them shout. You? You’re glowing louder.
🔥 RISE: Your Weekly Glow-Up Check-In
This week’s energy: Validation doesn’t live in their opinion — it lives in your integrity.
✨ Your 3-step challenge:
Catch yourself people-pleasing — and pause. Ask, “What do I want right now?”
Say something out loud you’ve been too afraid to claim. Even if it’s just to yourself in the mirror.
Affirmation for the week:
“I am not for everyone. I am for me — and that’s enough.”
✨ REAL TALK:
If you stopped living your life like it was up for approval — what bold, beautiful thing would you finally do?
Write it down. Then take one step toward it.
Even if it’s messy. Even if it’s tiny.
Especially if it’s scary.
