REFLECT: The Moment I Stopped Waiting for Permission

REFLECT: The Moment I Stopped Waiting for Permission

September 22, 20252 min read

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life."
Steve Jobs

There was a time I kept looking outside myself for the green light. Seeking out approval and validation from others, that I was doing everything ‘right’, that I was worthy of the love that I was so deeply searching for.

No matter how much I achieved or how many boxes I tried to tick off my to-do list, I still felt like something was missing, something I’d been searching for.

REFLECT: The Moment I Stopped Waiting for Permission

One powerful shift helped me with this; it changed everything. I stopped outsourcing my worth and thought I would try choosing myself. I knew that if I continued to seek approval and validation from others, then I would never be happy, that I would continue to try and live up to a standard that wasn't achievable.

Choosing me was never about having all the answers; you have to find yourself and find out who you are and what makes you tick. What and who fills your cup vs what does not, this allows you to figure out where to direct your energy and time.

What I learned from this was that the more I chose me, the more I continued to come back to who I was, the less I stopped needing to be chosen and validated by others. The more I found my tribe and people who really filled my cup.

RISE: Your Weekly Glow-Up Check-In

This week’s energy: Self-trust is your superpower.

Your 3-step challenge:

  1. Say no to something that doesn’t align with you, even if it’s uncomfortable. It will get easier.

  2. Write down one thing your younger self would be proud of you for today.

  3. Set a boundary with your screen time and reconnect with yourself.

Affirmation of the week:

“I don’t need to prove my worth, I just need to live it.”

REAL TALK:

Choosing yourself won’t always feel easy. It might feel like losing people, habits, or versions of you that once felt familiar.

But it’s also the beginning of something so much more honest. More grounded, More you.

You don’t have to wait for someone else to believe in you. Be the one who does.
