REFLECT: The Week I Realised I Don’t Have to Earn My Joy

“Joy is an act of resistance.” — Toi Derricotte

I used to think I had to hustle my way into happiness.
Like joy was some kind of reward for ticking every box.
Eat clean.
Workout, everyday and don’t forget your 10,000 steps.
Reply to every email, like super quick.
Be the super supportive friend.
Do all the mindset work and read 10 pages of a book whilst you're at it.
Be productive AF.

Then — maybe — I could take a bubble bath and let myself relax for 20 minutes (while feeling guilty the whole damn time, because I never got through my never ending to-do list).

The Week I Realised I Don’t Have to Earn My Joy

Sound familiar?

Here’s the thing, babe: You don’t have to earn your joy.
You don’t have to “deserve” rest or pleasure.
You don’t need to prove yourself worthy of a slow morning, a belly laugh, or a moment of stillness.

Joy isn’t a reward. It’s your birthright.

I know how hard it is to sit still when your nervous system is wired for chaos.
I know how strange it feels to feel good without needing to crash straight after.
But that’s the work now.
Learning to hold joy.
Learning to feel safe in softness.
Learning to let it be good.

So this week, queen — let it be good.

Let yourself laugh, rest, play, nap, stretch, journal, dance.
No productivity attached. No guilt required.
Just because you can.

🔥 RISE: Your Weekly Glow-Up Check-In

This week’s energy: Joy is not a reward — it’s a practice.

Your 3-step challenge:

  1. Schedule joy — not achievement. Literally. Put “have fun” on your calendar.

  2. Do one thing just for the pleasure of it. No outcome. Just vibes.

  3. Affirmation of the week:

“I am allowed to feel good. I don’t have to earn this.”

✨ REAL TALK:

What would happen if you stopped seeing joy as a luxury… and started seeing it as your fuel?

Seriously. What shifts if joy becomes the starting point — not the prize?

Go play with that this week.
